The Secret to Building a Marketable Database

There is no doubt about it - a direct mail campaign will only be as successful as the list is accurate. The same is true for email marketing. We

live in an online world where information is readily available to us, on-demand and at our fingertips. I can Google “in a pig’s ear” and yield 20,100,000 search results (quite literally, I just did this). So why does it seem so difficult to build an accurate, marketable database?

In our fast-paced, ever-changing world, we constantly question who (or what)

is the best source of information and how to keep that information up-to-date in our systems.

That best source of information, believe it or not, it is the person you are trying to target. You

can easily gather reliable information from them by establishing an inbound marketing program.

“Inbound marketing” is the process of attracting people to your

website through optimizing your SEO, producing relevant content, and publishing that content through social media channels. If the content that you produce is intriguing and enticing, your prospects will give you their information in order to obtain it. Once you have that (accurate!) information in your database, you can create automated online marketing campaigns to continue the conversation until they become customers.

An inbound marketing program allows you to build a marketable database of

prospects that is highly accurate, allowing you to reach your prospects effectively and efficiently with minimal waste. So the next time you purchase a list, consider a longer-term solution to your database needs. Think of how an inbound marketing program could help your organization.
